UNKNOWNCOLORS Coffee Session with DWEEY


Luk Chee Chew

Bachelor of Fine Arts, University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia

Luk graduated from UTAS in the year 2000, majoring in Electronic Media. Prior in UTAS, he completed his Diploma in Communication Design, majoring in Graphic Communication and Creative Advertising at The One Academy, Malaysia.

Luk started his communication design career as a web designer and art director at SurfDiz Malaysia in 2001. On 28 February 2002, he founded Fusionwave together with his business partner. Major clients of the company ranges from Malaysia’s top fashion designers, corporate clients and experimental projects such as Malaysia-International Fashion Awards, Melinda Looi, Porsche & Saab, Fuji Films Malaysia and  MNC Berhad etc. The company has successfully transformed into a 4As agency in the year 2009.

Luk was invited by The One Academy, Baruvi Academy of Arts, Center for Advanced Design (CENFAD) and PJCAD as a guest lecturer in Malaysia.

Luk was awarded the Long Xi International Chinese Advertising Award 1999 in Hong Kong. Besides, he also won the PICA Award 2000, Australia, finalist of Malaysia Video Award 2002 and Golden Web Award 2003, Design Firm Award 2004.

Besides, Luk has also created Dweey – Designer toy brand, 2005 and EKO - creative eco product brand, 2009.

5. What is your first pair of shoe?
White canvas shoe for primary school

6. Do you collect toys?
Yes, I do. Be@rbrick, Michael Lau, Devilrobots, Scary Girls, etc. Definitely my own creation, Dweey



7. What is your opinion about the street wear market today?
Style/identity has to be diversified to create its own unique brand value



8. What is your philosophy about the art of fashion?
 Discover the every little thing in daily life and make it into a good piece to inspire your buyers



9. Any last words?
A good piece of design must balance with Creative and Commercial value
